RECK-LESS was founded in 2018 after the brand’s founder and creative director Kertu Palo made a big leap from NYC to Southern California leaving behind NYC’s luxury fashion scene to launch her own label. With sincere passion and support for ethically made clothing, she launched the first RECK-LESS sustainable out of the ordinary womenswear and accessories collection the spring of 2019. Focusing on easy to wear day pieces and eye-candy worth artisan made hand embroidered accessories that are meant to be fun to wear and forever favorite.
Before RECK-LESS was born Kertu had a long and successful career in the women’s luxury market in NYC. Most recently she was the design director at Carolina Herrera,and years before that a designer at J. Mendel among a few others. She has led design and atelier teams, designed for countless royals, celebrities, two New York City ballets, and traveled to many countries to work with incredible talent to create remarkable collections and couture dresses.
Kertu was born and raised in Estonia where she studied fine art, and the history of art. After that, she moved to New York and continued her studies (while in school she worked at an art gallery and interned for a milliner in Soho), this time in fashion design and earning a BFA degree with honors and awards, while focusing on tailoring and couture details.
